  • Kind of amazing (something to warm your heart...)

I don't know if any of you are readers of "The Bloggess," but she's one of my favorites out there in cyberspace. Anyhow, she faciliated something truly amazing this weekend through her blog - an impromptu matching of folks desperate for help at the holidays with folks who were willing to donate money to them. And over the course of a couple days managed to get over $40,000 donated in small ($30-$100) amounts just by matching readers of her blog who wanted to donate with readers of her blog who needed some help.

I couldn't help but cry as I read the story. Have to say it made me feel pretty good about my fellow man. I strongly encourage you to take the time to read it.

This was awesome. I have been so saddened this year. We know many that are really struggling to do anything for the holidays because making monthly bills is hard enough ( I gave our cleaning lady $100 holiday tip and felt bad for not giving more - she literally burst into full on bawling because she had told her kids they might only get stocking stuffers for Christmas, and now could afford presents). We went to Toys R Us and bought double anything that we bought for the kids - the double went to the "Toys 4 Tots" bin. Our checker kept thanking us and saying hardly anyone had donated at their location this year. This is the same kind of thing we usually do, and no one has ever seemed surprised in the past. This economy sucks.
