  • Carmax is great!

Thanks for the tips to try Carmax. We bought a silver 2000 Chrysler Town & Country minivan this week and we LOVE it!!! What a nice change not to be dealing with overbearing salesman and trying to negotiate prices etc. We paid exactly what we expected. YEAH!!!

The timing worked out perfectly to be our anniversary present! Hey - It works! (even if we have been looking for a month!) We got a whole $500 for our old van! We couldn't have sold it for more than that. Russ is so sentimental though that we had to drive around the parking lot to see where they took our old, peeling paint Grand Caravan.

We actually got a better finance deal through Carmax than we did from our credit union. Interesting!

Time to go on a roadtrip!!!!

I'm so glad everything worked out Robin! I have only heard good things about buying through them. My attempt at selling didn't work out so well but that's because I still owe so much on the Saturn.

Congrats- now watch all of those crazy Texas drivers on 1604 and 410!

        That's great, Robin!
Does this mean you will be able to attend your family reunion?

I am planning on going to the family reunion but Russ defintely got the better end of this deal!!! He is going to fly for a few hours! I am going to drive about 1,800 miles to get there! UGH! I was excited to go on a roadtrip but this is going to be a challenge with four boys in the van. I am trying to get psyched about it though!!! I think on the way there we are going to head back to Phoenix to see some friends, then Vegas to see my best friend's new baby and then up to Utah. It is a little out of the way but I think it will be worth it. That will take four days but I have a place to stay the whole way. My high school reunion though is in Oregon and I just can't figure out how to get there from Utah. The idea of driving another 14 hours to get there is just too much and Russ will already be flying in so I can't afford to make another flight. So ... I may just have to pass on that.

Thanks Jenn for the warning! I live right off of the 1604 and I am paranoid now every time I drive. It wasn't as big a deal when I had my old beat up van. I figured if someone bumped into me it wouldn't do much damage but I don't want anybody near me now. I even park in the parking lot far away from everyone. I am sure the newness will wear off soon enough but I am going to enjoy it while I can. Have you sold your Saturn now?

Of course, the very next day after we bought the van, my employer informed me that she only has work for me through September if she can't get any more accounts. UGH! I am not too worried yet. I am just going to enjoy things at the moment.

Thanks for asking and again ... thanks for the advice.

            Robin,

Congrats on the new car. Your boys will always remember your cross country road trip.

Here's hoping that more work arrives for you in September, too.
