We took our tree down today, and noticed that we have significant water damage to our hardwood floors. I'm glad we didn't wait into January 6 to take it down, but it looks like we will still have to take the floorboards out anyway. I've got a household mold allergy, so we can't do a wait-and-see on it. I'm so pissed! No more Christmas trees!!!!!!!

Somehow the space under the stand and the underside of the stand had condensation on it (???), so it doesn't appear that it was an actual leak.

        Ugh. No more trees!

Ugh...yuck! Any chance it can be sanded and restained? I think I'm tackling the decorations tonight...

I'm not sure if I have post holiday blues: but def having definitely having trouble getting myself motivated! My compliant of the last few months since I completed my Triathlon and Army 10 Miler, was having no time to train since the new puppy and my SO's horrible call schedule. Now that things are looking up: puppy starting crate training (boo poor puppy) and my SO having a little relief with 2 of the residents back on the schedule; you'd think I'd have my happy holiday butt out running and trying to find a workable schedule in the mornings with the puppy. But no. Nothing. I'm just kinda blah.

Only thing I have been able to is some painting: which has been good.

            I need a jump start!

Me, too. We've got a big party at church on Sunday night to celebrate!

I think it was celebrated this past Sunday, but it is officially the 12th day after Christmas...so today!

You're a bad influence. I will NOT look up a recipe for King Cake.

I'm always mildly depressed in January. All the lights and the color from the holidays are gone, the house looks bare and stark (or it would if I would move my butt and undecorate)and it's cold and dark outside.

Alison, I would wait and see a little. DD1 flooded the half bath and neglected to mention it to me and it has wood floors. They warped badly and looked awful, but since I'm so far behind on necessary stuff I just ignored it. A few months later it was back to normal and looks fine! Yours may be different if the exposure was really prolonged, but I hope not. That's a big pain in the butt.

My child who attends public school here in San Antonio just informed me this evening that it's Dia de los Tres Reyes. How and why this came up in school I do not know but they were given calculators and pedometers??!! (not sure that the Magi brought gadgets but what the heck do I know?)

My mother's birthday (1/4) is the official end to the holiday. Growing up they'd always have a 12th night party- they'd hire madrigals - one year they hired a classical guitarist- and they'd party one last time.

My mom's is 1/5. It always seems too close to the holidays to have a big bash, but if/when we move closer, I'm going to throw one for her anyway.
