He is definitely missing some key concepts along the way - most of them in fact. And the teachers don't seem to want to invest any more time in him. Because he is a foster child, he cannot be home-schooled (even though it would be better for his learning style). My mom is considering getting pre-algebra and algebra home-schooling programs to get him up to speed before he begins 9th grade. I think it would be a good idea for him.
And really, if he is supposed to be using quadratic equations, shouldn't the concept be introduced before they are given the problems?
