  • Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day to all my friends at iMSN! Does anybody have big plans?

DrK was post-call yesterday so our big weekend family activity was a family nap followed by a trip to the grocery store. When we got there, DrK put BabyK in a cart and told me that they had "guy stuff" to do and shooed me off with another cart to get groceries. I caught him arranging roses in a vase later that night after he thought I'd gone to bed. I know that he's planning to "surprise" me with a cake tonight too. So, I'm making a late dinner for me and DrK (roast, sweet potatoes, veggies) and I'm putting BabyK to bed early so we can actually enjoy a grown up dinner together.

We plan to celebrate in New Orleans on Friday. We did got a half-bottle of dessert wine from Central Market to share tonight.

Mrs K - Sounds great! DH took the day off. Kind of for V-day, but also because he's off lecturing to med students right now. I love Valentine's day! Unfortunately, DD #1 has a fever of 103 AFTER meds and is the sickest she's ever been (at 5 yrs old, she's never run a fever before). DS is off to the sleep clinic for his initial appointment to determine whether or not he has RLS, and DH is sick as well. Guess we won't be having a fancy meal. My kids will be getting a new toy, clothes, and CANDY, so they will be happy! We'll have to re-create DD's school party at home - she's bummed that she can't go. A lot going on, but it's still going to be a good day. At least DH isn't working, right?

Sunday, after Mass, the good doctor took his wife (who wasn't feeling well) out to dinner at a restaurant she'd been wanting to go to so badly! He's a keeper! Didn't order drinks (I really wasn't feeling well), but we did go to the bakery side of the restaurant after dinner to get a few sweet treats for the kids.

I actually got my Valentine's Day gifts last weekend. This morning I was awoken with a kiss and a "I brought you something..." that something was a sleepy, giggly, but hungry baby. Love it!

Our Valentines Day tradition has always been pizza. We celebrated yesterday as a cap to a fun family weekend. We don't typically exchange gifts.

On Saturday, my parents came over for a BBQ. We watched a movie and relaxed in the hottub and ate burgers and brats. Yesterday, my mom, Lexi, and I went shopping at the outlets. Chad, Ryan, and my dad went golfing, then we all met up for dinner and had tapas. This morning Chad woke me up with a tray of chocolate covered strawberries. He's headed to work now for an afternoon surgery. I'll head to the bank and the store to grab some stuff for a yummy dinner (seared scallops and truffle risotto). We'll spend the evening together at home with the kids. It's been a good weekend.

I always hated Valentine's Day, so it's life as usual for us! I'm such a grinch. Given, my BF is currently on a rotation about four hours away, so if he were here, I'm sure we'd go out to dinner or something, but definitely no gifts!

We went out for dinner Saturday night, I expect tonight to be low key since we decided not to do gifts.

My husband apparently sent me a Valentine's Day card. I cut Nikolai's PB&J into a heart and I think we'll have spaghetti for dinner tonight since it's red. Other than that? I'm going solo once again.

The funny factoid about Valentine's day is that it was the first day I sent an email to him after he responded to my online posts (long story but we met online after I posted a thing for my two friends because I was so tired of hearing them complain about how there were no men in DC/Balto and my husband, of the 150+ rseponses we got, was the ONLY one who replied specifically to ME) and I like to remind him of that.

That said, of the 12 Valentine's Days since that one in 1999 I think we've been together in the same space three times. (2008, 2009 and 2010, aka attendinghood)

The usual for us, too. We exchange cards, but that's it.

DH is on call. And I am anticipating being at work until at least 9pm. Fortunately, we had a nice weekend together.
