This is horrible. Dh's sister in law is from Osaka but not sure If she has family in Tokyo. The pictures of the tsunami wave are horrible . I hope all of you with family in Japan or surrounding countries and the west coast are safe.

D, I hope that your DH's SIL and her family are all alright this morning.
The pictures I'm seeing this morning are horrific. The tsunami footage is scary. And this morning, there are tsunami warnings for Hawaii, Alaska and the West Coast. I hope that all of our peeps on the West Coast take extra care this morning.

Thankfully all are ok...just heard from BIL. The one positive is that the country and people of japan are more equipped for earthquakes than most. It's the tsunami that is the truly devastating part of this whole occurrence.

We are under a warning, but should be fine. DH's aunt and uncle live in Tokyo and we haven't received any word yet... Their son lives here, and is freaking out.
I'll keep you posted!

Whew! Just talked with my mom. Cousin and his family are still stateside. They were heading to the airport in CA with their kids sleeping and didn't have the radio or their phones on and had no idea what was going on. They were headed to catch a flight to Seattle and then onto Okinawa.
My "uncle"/mom's ex fiance that I have remained a member of their family since I was 6 lives in Aomori and no one has been able to make contact yet. DH's ex stepmom lives in Maui and her husband supplies the porta potties for state of emergencies. She says it's crazy over there. Hope everyone hears from who they need to hear from. Taiwan dodged the tsunami radius.
Big hugs to everybody with friends/family over there. Right now, it appears that Japan's preparedness has saved many lives. If the same kind of event happened in other countries in that region, it would be a much different story. (As seen in 2004).
I have a couple friends in Tokyo who have been accounted for, so diverting my wishes to everybody else.
