  • Disney World Headache Conference

    2 part question
Anyone planning on going to the headache conference in Disney World July 14-17? I am in the process of begging my husband. I know it will be July in Orlando and hot hot hot. And I will be 32 weeks pregnant. Which brings me to the 2nd part. Anyone been to Disney World pregnant? I just want to know if I can ride Soarin'!
I want to gooo!!! I love Disney World, A will be 2 1/2 so she won't be able to do much anyway. AND they have discounted tickets for after 2p or 4p which would be best for us anyway. That leaves plenty of time to spend at the pool!

I love WDW, too, but no way in hell I'd be caught dead there in July. Unless it was to hang with Heidi. I might consider it then.

Totally hijacking but having a headache conference at WDW sounds like an oxymoron!

I've been to Disneyland when I was pregnant with twins. You basically can't ride anything. Not even soarin. Not even the barnstormer. Pretty much nothing.

I don't know if I'd do it. With a toddler in tow... It's really crowded and July will be hot, muggy, and stormy in the afternoon.

I just got back from disney and that's coloring my response. I'm still exhausted!! And I'm not pregnant or anything!!

You won't be able to ride anything, the heat would be oppressive for someone NOT in their 3 rd trimester. No freaking way I'd go.

Unless you were sitting by a nice resort pool...

Disney was on our list, but we nixed it due to the pregnancy and potential for clouds. I've been quite a few times, but always in Sept-Nov, when it is still nice and warm, but not too crowded or hot

What everyone else said - and I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE WDW and would LEAP at any chance to go...but no way in holy hell in July at 32 weeks. I was in Orlando last summer in July - not at all pregnant, and had to shower 2-3 times a day because I would get that sweaty...

I will actually BE there during that week- not for a headache conference- I wonder if my husband even knows there IS a headache conference...(although he hates, hates, hates headache.)

July in Florida won't faze us though- coming from July in San Antonio. In fact, there's good chance it'll be cooler there than at home.

We are Disney freaks. Seriously, we would live in the parks and we always take our babies there before they turn one. That being said, we never ever ever go in the summer. Even not pregnant or with toddler, it is way too crowded to get your money worth for the trip. That time of year you can truly only get on a few rides and you spend most of the time standing in line.

It will be super hot then, so it could be difficult being so pregnant. But, I disagree that you wouldn't be able to ride anything. There are a few rides that pregnant women can't ride (mostly roller coasters), but you wouldn't be able to ride those with a toddler anyway. Just google "disney world pregnant" or something like that. Tons of pages out there.

There are so many tame rides like "Small World" and "Winnie the Pooh" that your toddler would probably love! There doesn't appear to be a pregnancy restriction on "Soarin", but the minimum height is 40". How tall is your DD?

When I was there was a restriction on soarin. It's in the small print.

We've been a few times in March and always made time to see EVERYTHING so this time I'm not so much worried about seeing anything really. I mostly want to relax at the hotel and take A to see the castle, some of the shows and maybe ride a few rides. I thought it might be nice since we will basically be able to ride the same rides. The heat is my main concern. I really want to take her before the other baby is born because then we won't be able to go for a long long time. uhhhhhhh so confused.

I would find the heat to be oppressive at that time of year not-pregnant. I'm imagining myself 8 months pregnant in Little Italy (in Cleveland) at the Feast of the Assumption (August) where I nearly passed out (heat + crowds). I wouldn't do it. But, I also pretty much hate Disney. In fact, where Cheri thought the conference title was an oxymoron, I immediately thought "perfect place".

Actually taking a newborn isn't so bad. Not a tiny newborn, but a baby under 12 months is pretty portable. We went when our dd was around 18 months and it was fine. She fell asleep in the stroller when she needed a nap and it was easier in many ways than this last trip when she was 2.5 yrs.

We did lots of traveling with babies under 12 months. The Bjorn baby carrier works wonders.

I'd vote to plan a trip in the fall, September- November are the slow seasons there right? Then just bring baby with. I think the weather+toddler+third trimester pregnancy would be a lot less magical...
