    At least it says this:
    Doctors’ salaries are so high not only because of supply and demand but also to offset the amounts they have to invest in education and malpractice insurance. The 43,230 surgeons in the U.S. also work lengthy shifts and do complicated procedures to earn their sizeable salaries.
    But if you click through to the slide show of top 10, how they classified the surgeons doesn't make a lot of sense.

    So do we belong in #7 or #8 spot? Totally confused where pediatricians belong.

    But what I'm not confused on is the average salary. I don't expect to ever see DH reach the salaries listed in the #7 or #8 spot, because he is not specializing. Shit, I would be ecstatic if we COMBINED made either one of those salaries!

      What I can't understand about some of these articles is that it seems like so many professions aren't even considered that I'm sure are higher average salaries than doctors. I mean what about the average salary of a Hollywood movie producer or director? I believe those are the ones who can afford homes in Beverly Hills where an average general surgeon - cannot.

        Yes, it is totally flawed which surprises me from a business magazine like Forbes.

        I was surprised though that when I read the comments there was a smaller amount of doctor bashing then usual.

          I just read the article and am tempted to track down and email the author over that steaming pile. Complete bullshit.

            We did that once, so many people wrote the author she adjusted her article. It was about residents' salary.

              After checking out the original blog at Forbes, looks like she only perused the latest table released by the BoL about wage estimates that doesn't include a LOT of really high paying gigs. Yes, docs are the highest paid on the very limited list. Also, the numbers are skewed since it's about salaries and doesn't appear to include incentive pay, which is usually the biggest bulk of pay for CEOs, hedge fund managers, etc.

              Um, yeah. Lazy, shitty reporting.
