  • Finally back in the world

Hello out there....have you all forgotten me? We are finally moved to KC(although not by any means moved in!), I started my new job, Gregg is in full residency swing, my kids are still alive and I am probably certifiably insane. I think I have my dad's house about cleared out and sold, so I can now concentrate on unpacking everything still packed in my own house. I can't say I am enjoying this residency era. Gregg chose family practice to have more home time but was hit first with his internal med rotation followed by inpatient pediatrics (his first day in peds is today with an all night call). I think I have seen him awake for about 2 hours since this residency began. Oh well...I keep telling myself it's only three years. In the meantime, I keep myself amused watching my kids do ridiculously silly things for a few hours each night when I get home before heading into the "I don't want to go to bed" hour. Chase has now learned to commandeer the ice cream man and yesterday when I went inside for a second, he had stopped the truck and ordered a powerpuff girl popsicle before I even made it back outside. I hate to break the news to Gregg, but I think his entire salary will end up going to various cartoon character popsicles. Oh well, the joys of childhood. Hope all is well with all of you. I doubt I will have time to read many past posts but will try to keep up from here on. I have missed talking with everyone. Hope those who have finished residency are enjoying the real world and those who are still in the midst of residency or medical school are surviving. Talk to everyone soon.

    Tiffany

(P.S. Matt...isn't your wife at Children's Mercy? That's where Gregg is now. If you don't think she would mind, maybe I could pass her name on to him as someone to look up while he is there. I suppose friendly faces are always a nice welcome to help get through the days and nights)

That would be great, if she were there now! We are actually in Seattle at this very moment having witnessed the marrying off of her baby brother.

She is "officially" back at work, but has this month as a reading month and doesn't really have to work in the day-to-day rigors of the Dr life. She will be around for some of the meetings and things but not all of them. She agrees that it helps to have a friendly face in these times of learning the ropes and having to take call during the inpatient months.

    Her name is Gretchen Black.

      Welcome BACK!

      Hey, Tiffany..welcome back!

How did the move go? I must have missed it that you were able to find the new job???!!! Congratulations. It sounds like things are evening themselves out again and are going smoothly...well...as smoothly as they can go with children, residency and a big move behind you

I look forward to your updates and I hope things start to even out soon with his residency. The first few months are the most difficult!

Are you and Matt close to each other? If so...you'll have to get together for coffee!!!

We seem to have a collection of people here in the Kansas City area....and many with distant ties (KU Med)!

Yep, I think there are at least 3 of us.
Speaking of...Matt, did you catch the FYI section in Sunday's paper? They had a nice article on stay at home dad's and also had an email address of a guy that coordinates dad only playgroups. I have already tossed my paper, but I'm sure you could still get your hands on one if you're interested in reading it.

Just curious - what is the medical school in Kansas City?
