  • Aways in Chicago

So exciting that 4th year is starting for my husband! Big things happening for us.
My husband is now scheduled for 2 months of aways in Chicago: September at UC (urology) and October at Loyola (again urology). I have been researching places for him to stay these two months and man, is it going to cost us like crazy. Anyone know of any resources I should be looking at to find an efficiency/room/small apartment to rent on a month to month basis. Husband wants to be close to each campus/hospitals and will probably look at two separate rentals (one for UC and one for Loyola). Anyone in Chicago rent out their extra bedrooms to visiting med students?

DH did his away in urology at Loyola and found a sublet through the med school; it was an apartment of a Loyola student who was doing her own away at the time. Maybe he could try to find something like that?

yea, that would be ideal. U of C only refers him the the international house on campus, which are like dorms. for 800 you get no ac and to share bathrooms. I was hoping he could do better. I'll have him look into that.

You could always try Craigslist. My best friend lives in Manhattan close to Columbia University and has subleted her 2nd bedroom various times. I am sure you can find something comparable in Chicago.. Good Luck!

I-house is not so bad! a bunch of my friends stayed there during law school.

It's a bit dormy, but pretty convenient.

Ditto--a great place to network, because of the common kitchen and dining area.
