  • Washer & Dryer Rental

We're looking for an appliance rental company (not a rent/lease-to-own) to rent a washer/dryer set for the year in our new place. I contemplated purchasing something off of Craigslist, but if it breaks down, it could be very expensive to fix. DH wants to save $ to buy "the set" for our house after this lease is up.
Does anyone have any experience with this? I rented a fridge for an apartment in 2007 but that was out here (CA).

    Thanks in advance!

I haven't done appliances but I rented furniture from Aaron's after college and had a good experience.

We rented a washer and dryer from June through Decmber of 2010 while in an apartment.

Pros: at least we had a washer and dryer

Cons: $45/month with all taxes and insurance against damage. Would have been way better off getting a cheap set on craigslist.
Small machines. Couldn't fit much of anything. No fabric softener dispenser.

I wouldn't do it again. I think it was a poor decision.

We got a cheap set off Craigslist for $150. It works, but is hell on our clothes. The biggest downside was driving to the ghetto to pick up and and trying to unload it. It is so heavy that it is staying when we leave...our landlord offered to give us $100 bucks for it.

You might check the Sears Outlet at Grapevine Mills...they sometimes have really good deals and you could sell it when you are ready to move and probably come out ahead compared to renting. They also deliver

We faced the same scenario once--needed a w/d for a couple of years, didn't want to buy the primo new ones.

We found a mom & pop store in Dallas that rehabbed w/ds. WAY cheaper than renting. They brought 'em out, installed him, worked like a charm. When we moved, we called Goodwill or someone, and they came out to pick them up as donations.

Maybe we just got lucky. They weren't pretty (had a few dings) and no fancy-shmancy features, but were in good shape and never gave us a moment's headache.

If the Sears Scratch & Dent store is still open in Carrollton/Farmers Branch, I would check there.
