Every year (mainly around monsoon season) the cicadas are everywhere. We had an infestation of them in our garage one year and it was the loudest, freakiest thing ever. The ones we had looked like locusts. Disgusting little beady-eyed fuckers.

My two biggest bug fears are moths and crickets - and cicadas fall into the cricket category for me

GRU: our neighbor mowed his lawn today, and our entire tree in the backyard was "singing." I hate cicadas.
But... What really creep me out are June bugs (Blech!) and this thing I came across in LA called a Jerusalem cricket.
That thing. It gave me nightmares. Ew ew ew.

I actually like cicadas as long as I'm only hearing them. They were really loud earlier this summer (Brood 19 apparently) but I havent heard them since it go ridiculously hot.

Part of me wants to google the cricket out of morbid curiosity, but I think I'll listen to the sane part that says my dreams are weird/scary enough these days...

Wildfin, I'll see your Jerusalem cricket & raise you a tail-less whip scorpion! BTW you all are a bunch of pansies when it comes to cicadas...they are harmless. We used to collect their molted shells when we were kids. I actually catch them & put them in the kids bug houses for them to gawk at for awhile.

                Lol shazam!!!

I liked our cicadas-- but we don't live in an old growth part of town so we really only got swarmed by them when we went to old parks or neighborhoods. And they are out flying around only about 14 days or so before they die. I would not like a swarm of cicadas in my house!! Or garage!

Scorpions have been used as agents of death in too many movies--- I still think they are the worst!!! Definitely look the scariest.
