  • What's just like junior high?

    Your local PTA, that's what.

Holy crap. Do these people have nothing else to do except forment on the whys and whens of the actions of the PTA? It's a PTA for pete's sake- we're not the f-ing United Nations or NATO.

    So annoying.

Ha ... I was going to say Hell too ... but your local PTA pretty much comes in a close second. Isn't funny how grown women can be such asshats?

Ugh. As much as I like to volunteer, I avoid PTAs/PTOs swift like a ninja. Those fuckers are beyond my ability to tolerate.

I don't know, I don't think we ever really leave middle school social crap. It just becomes more layered and sophisticated.

I think there is a very good chance that the people serving on your PTA also serve on my condo association's board.

Actually- my Board is fine- it's the assholes who complain all the f-ing time but yet when pressed, do nothing.

I remember my PTA meltdown story. It was the last year of having a child in the elementary school. At the PTA meeting some of those moms (not one dad there) were such morons. Think upper/middle class income, who were wannabe wealthy, where most of the working adults commuted into New York. I think I was the only working mom there. The PTA "President" was gushing about how great the attendance was, and how great it would be to find out where the husband's worked and what kind of resources we would have access to. I actually stood up, still in my scrubs from work, asked for my $2.00 membership back, and walked out. Not kidding.

I refuse to join PTAs. I'll gladly volunteer my time to help out, but I'm 100% incapable of dealing with entitled dipshits in any kind of rational or tactful manner. I'm sure that's a shock...

Same here. I sent Jacob's teacher an email that said "I'm happy to help out in any way I can, but I don't generally sign up for the PTO projects. Just not my crowd."

We function as the portal through which everything passes so it totally sucks. I do have a bunch of unaffliliated groups coming tonight for membership drives but all school fundraising falls to us or our partner group which is NOT the PTA but a separate 501c3 (so they have fewer restrictions.)
