  • I'm freaking out here!

A little girl in our neighborhood has viral meningitis. She had a spinal tap on Sunday and was then released to go to her birthday party. Later that day they were informed she had it. Several kids at the party were jumping in the moonwalk together. Luckily, my girls weren't there, but several kids in our neighborhood were, whom they have played with since then. Now the two kids next door are also feeling sick (and their mom is pregnant, though I don't know if that matters). I just paged my husband who said if our kids aren't feeling sick they are probably OK, but I'm still pretty freaked out!

OK, I just did some research and apparently it isn't as big of a deal as I thought.

Yeah, but even if it's not that big of a deal, one would think that if they suspected meningitis (enough to do an LP) they would have advised keeping her apart until confirmed ?

I thought so too, fluffhead! Even if its not life threatening, it still sounds like a pretty crummy illness to get.
