  • Forum sorting

I know you admin peeps are super busy and all that jazz, but how do you sort the forums chronologically from newest to oldest? All of the forum posts, for me at least, are in alphabetical order, and it's driving me nuts. If it's a setting I can change but just can't seem to find, if anyone can point me in the direction of how, that'd be great.

Also, is there anyway to run an index to add all the old posts to the search feature? It really shouldn't take too much time, but it would be handy dandy.

I appreciate you so much, and I'd even consider sending a thank you card. Consider, but probably not actually, cause I suck at those and I am already 2-3 months overdue on sending one to Momo and LilySayWhat, but in your heart you'll know I thought about it.

    Found this:

When I converted my YaBB SE board, all of the messages and IMs, as well as usernames, converted. However, when I use the search feature in vBulletin, it only searches messages that have been posted since the update. So basically none of my old threads from YaBB are searchable. I was wondering if using the Rebuild Search Index tool in the Update Counters section of the Admin panel might possibly fix this? I was thinking maybe the old threads just hadn't been indexed properly. Anyone have any insight?

Yes, just rebuild the search index to fix this.

I've noticed that some of the forums are alphabetical and some are chronological. Do we have to change this forum by forum.

Yes, please! Not all of the forums are sorted alphabetically but some are, and there's no sorting option when viewing the forum on an iPhone. I'm talking about Safari, not Tapatalk.

I just use the New Posts link...which does all unread posts in reverse chronological order...

Me too, most of the time. But, if there is something I read, but mean to get back to later, I sometimes miss it entirely.

At the top of each forum, I think there is
Title / Thread Starter Replies / Views Last Post By

If you click on Last post by, it puts them in cronological order, i you click on title, it does them ABC..... I think...

Right, but things look very different when you access the barebones version of the forum on an iPhone. There is no sorting option in that view. Maybe I should go ahead and buy Tapatalk.

I also use the "new posts" option, but sometimes I like to look at a particular sub-forum.

you can also go to the very bottom of the page and look for the Thread Display Options section. Look for the Sort threads by: drop down menu. Select Last Post Time. Then tick the box for Descending Order. LJane's way of doing it is easier. Neither way seems to stick tho. The forums keep going back to alphabetical sorting.
