  • Ticket Voucher?

We received a voucher for 2, for a 8 day/7 night cruise with Car.n.i.va.l. cruise line. - a local business just opened (I checked, it's legit) and wants us to listen to their 90 minute pitch to buy into their travel club. They aren't looking for personal information, and to my understanding, we still get the voucher even if we don't sign up.
Has anyone else ever done this? I have a friend who did something similar for a timeshare vacation and she loved it. I'm skeptical.

I'd do it! DH and I tried one when we were in college, and it was totally fine. The pitch wasn't bad - just keep saying "no", and they'll move on quickly so they can hopefully make a sale with the next couple. Ours didn't work out, since our only available dates were limited to spring break and a couple weeks of summer (prime vacation time) because of an internship I had.

I've also gone on one of those with my parents before, and it was a really fun vacation.

I've had friends that did it for a time share too and had no problem. Cruises are great vacations too. Did one down the "Mexican Riviera". Only thing that gets people is they do have fees for cleaning the room each night that you can't get around. By the end of the trip it was around $500 in fees per person. Our departure port was in San Diego and we went over Spring Break. Absolutely gorgeous and had a blast! Lets see I'm trying to remember the days we spent at sea. One day was traveling. One day was in Cabo San Lucas. Another day was in Puerto Vallarta which I want to go back to because it's so beautiful there. Then a day in Mazatlan. Then something happened like ship maintenance and we had a stop somewhere again but I can't recall which port it was. Then it seemed like two days traveling back. They were hauling butt back and the ship was skipping on some heavy waves and that was rocking the boat so much for so long that I started to feel ill for the first time. After being at sea that long it took a few days on land for the sea legs to wear off.

When we stayed at a resort hotel in Cancun that also had timeshare suites, they sucked us into a timeshare talk in exchange for some vouchers for activities and meals and such. The gal pitching us came from Shaker Heights and her brother had gone through med school, so it was friendly, we got the tour, and when they explained the prices and DH explained that we don't put luxuries on credit and med school is expensive, they shook our hands and sent us on our way with our goodies. I was a little nervous going in, since I suck at being a hardass and saying no in those kinds of situations, but DH was awesome, and doesn't get flustered no matter what they say.
