  • Data Allowance for Smartphones

Do you know how many GB you use per month or what plan you pay for on your smartphone? We are thinking of switching companies for cell phones and I am unsure how many GB would be necessary. I have an iphone.

    TIA!

Most people don't even go past 2 GB of use, unless they tether (Verizon) or use the phone as a wi-fi hot spot. So I've been told.
If you use your phone's web browser, you aren't DLing that much; however, if you're using your computer and the phone as a tether/hot-spot, then it's significantly more.
Although I'm grandfathered in with unlimited data plan usage for a flat rate, both AT&T and Verizon recommend purchasing the lowest data package, as it will suit most needs.

    Hopefully, that helps!

My online account says that in 13 days of this cycle I have used .113 GB of data and I consider myself to be a pretty heavy user.

I can't access my last month's bill for some reason.

I'm a SUPER heavy user and I think I've only ever once gone over 2.5 GB. We have grandfathered unlimited plans, too.

I go over once every few months. Not enough to up my plan. With AT&T, if you go over, they just add another $15 to your bill.

As an FYI, I think streaming apps like Pandora can up your usage.

I've used over 1/2 GB since Friday, so not even 5 full days. I am a heavy user, really heavy. I am on a grandfathered unlimited plan.

Dh almost always goes over the 2gb. I don't but just in case I have the unlimited plan and I'm keeping it. I figure as the phones get faster and I spend more and more time away from my house I will stream more using the network. Right now a lot of my streaming is at home-- using my wifi.
