  • Calling All Derms for help!

Hey, any of you that have gone through the whole residency application for derm, are there any programs that you researched that we should stay away from? We are trying to whittle down our choices so we don't have to fork out so much moola just to apply (our current price is $1,995 8O to apply to 90 schools). So if you know of any that are notorious for only taking inhouse, or are malignant, please let me know - dh is submitting his eras on Monday morning, so any help would be wonderful. Thanks a ton!! You can email or pm me if you want.

I'll PM you. My DH just put together a list for someone else applying to derm.
Even better would be if you could give me your list -- he can make comments to that.
So, you guys left off maybe 10 of the programs? This is not a fun or inexpensive process but will be totally worth it in the long run.
    Hang in there.

Pretty pathetic isn't it? Man, it seems like the whole medical education is one money-sucking-jump through-firey-hoops-while-doing-the-poka-one-footed game!!

At this point in time, March (and match day) seems like eons away!!!

Crazy, isn't it? Eric applied to "only" 26 derm programs and got a lot of flack for that. One unexpected upside was that at interview time the programs were impressed that he "narrowed" the list to 26 programs that would be a good fit for him. It's such a game, you'd hate to not apply to enough programs and not match that it is a little scary to draw the line at a certain number and try to decide which programs you have a really, really low chance of interviewing with.

Jen, I'm sure that doesn't include your prelim list, right?

Once you hit January, things speed up from there.
