  • Silly things that....

make you feel like you actually belong in the place you are living.

Its hard to feel like I am "home" when I know in 2.5 years I will be headed somewhere else. I have now been here 2.5 years and its nights like tonight, when I drive home and take three different highways with out using my GPS that I feel like I am actually in "my" city.

Anyone else have something silly that makes them feel like they are in their "home"?

Finding a solid restaurant that makes your comfort food of choice, or, your favorite ethnic food of choice.
Your friendly neighborhood market (whatever that may be)
Not receiving someone else's mail/not receiving mail still forwarded from your old address. Everyone knows where you reside, and the mail reflects that.
Making a real friend in your current city, and having their contact info programmed into your phone.

Knowing the quickest way to get anywhere and having 'our' go to spots in the neighborhood...dry cleaner, wine store, grocery store, chinese food, etc.

Running into more than 3 people in the local supermarket. I love feeling connected!

Being friendly with the neighbors, knowing their names, having them "watch" your place when your out of town and bringing them baked goods.
