  • Grammy beginning

I have never seen the Grammys--ever. So maybe I don't have much to judge by. However, I tuned in to watch how the intro was handled, in light of last night's death of Whitney Houston. I thought it might be a borderline exploitative moment--too much, feeling contrived, etc. The host is LL Cool J, who I've always thought was a very appealing actor.

Did anyone else see the intro? I thought he did a very classy job. I am certain that it was a difficult thing to do--especially given performer's general tendancy for melodrama. He gave a poignant but unsappy intro, I thought.

But there is certainly one reality hanging out there that creates a real sense of loss: she seemed to have been gone long before she died. All these clips that the news outlets run are at least ten years old. Man, just say no. To crappy ass husbands. To drugs. To alcohol.

It's a far more mellow intro than past years.

I saw the into. I thought it was tasteful and that he did a good job. But something just seemed off to me. Not sure what. Maybe it was the prayer. Or maybe I was expecting something more "tacky", like so many awards show tributes become. I'm not sure.

I thought it was beautiful and tastefully done.

I thought he did a very respectful job.

Now. You can disagree with me of you want but nicki minaj (or however you spell her name). Was horrible.

Adele was awesome, though. Man, does that girl has some pipes.

Adele was amazing! We waited for her and quit watching after that. Did anyone see the 60 minutes piece on her right before the Grammys? It was great too.

DH got me hooked on Adele a couple years ago when she released Chasing Pavements. We missed the 60 minutes episode on her, I wonder if I can track it down online.
