DD, you'd be surprised. Having been a counselor for 12 years, I think you'd make a great counselor. You are direct and honest and that makes for a much better counselor than if you were meek and mamby-pamby.

I'm an INTJ, as is DH. We're rare (I prefer rare over odd, ha)

One of my previous employers had us do MBTI exercises as a team-building thing (two of our principals were certified in it). It was actually a lot of fun and helped everyone gain a little better perspective on one another. It improved my working relationship with my boss because she was such a strong ENFP and approached problems from such a different angle than I did. And out of the 13 people in our group (all women), I was the only "T" so I think it helped them "get me" a little better too.

Slightly off topic, but has anyone done enneagram before? It's a bit more... "crunchy", I'd say, than MBTI but it was pretty neat as well and tied in with a lot of the MBTI stuff.

I did enneagrams in grad school. I also had to take the MMPI! I've actually had to take it for all 3 grad schools I've attended (it was part of the acceptance process to get into the programs).

Wow really? Was it a big factor you think? (i.e. would they not accept someone because they were a certain type?)

There are a couple of residency programs who use one of these types of tests to help with their rank list. We just had somebody speak at Grand Rounds about how this is done. They surveyed current and past residents who they thought were "successful", and found that many of them had similar profiles. They then test everybody they interview and use that as part of their ranking criteria. Very interesting!

I think grad schools are concerned about applicants that have spikes along certain scales. In my doctoral program I took a class specifically on scoring and interpreting the MMPI and I don't know how much I buy into it. It's a very subjective test.

I'm an ESTJ which is pretty close in most circumstances.

                    This especially:
The ESTJ is outspoken, a person of principles, which are readily expressed. The ESTJ is not afraid to stand up for what she believes is right even in the face of overwhelming odds. ESTJs are able to make the tough calls.
There are some things about being organized which I am in my head but not at all in the appearance of my desk/house/car

Another ENFJ here. (ENF all moderately expressed while distinctively expressed J). The description fit pretty well. Interestingly I have become less E through the years and more J. Speaking of being a ENFJ, I am sending this quiz out to the girls who I have dinner with once a month. True to form, I organize this group.

                            ISFJ. Introverted: 22 Sensing: 12 Feeling: 25 Judging: 89

The analysis is me to a T! Scary! I actually wanted to forward it to the people in my life, since I dislike confrontation and often feel unappreciated!

INTJ as well. BonBon, neiner and I should start a club. We can form it using our creative yet practical approach to problem solving.
