  • Keeping up with IMSN

I have been meaning to ask this for a long while. Each time I am "away" from you guys for even a day, I cannot keep up with all the threads. I was at a conference for 4 days and I am 5 pages deep even though I tried to check in via phone!! Sometimes I mark forums read and start all over because going through the posts gets overwhelming. However, I always feel bad about doing that. It is not like you are dying to hear my 2 cents but I know sometimes we are dying to hear responses to our questions/concerns/etc.

So, how do you manage to keep up with everyone? It is no secret we are all short on time but we do continue to think about each other even if we are not posting.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

Haha me too! If I get behind, I also mark some posts read, but I, too, worry that I'm missing someone's updates.

Being put into surgical menopause at 36 means I don't sleep well due to hot flashes. I do most of my iMSN reading/catching up in the middle of the night when I can't sleep!

So this may be really obvious and you may already do this, but I only figured this out a few months ago and it's made it a thousand times easier to keep up for me. At the top left there's a link that says New Posts. Click that and it lists all the threads with posts you haven't read yet, newest ones first, regardless of which board it's in. It seriously changed my life.

I read the forums that interest me and the threads I follow. Sorry, folks, I don't read the fitness logs. In some threads, like new babies or illnesses, I might just follow postings by the original poster because pretty much everyone else is just offering congratulations or sympathy. Every so often, I'll mark everything read. If I notice that something I haven't been following is getting a lot of posts, I'll get caught up on that thread.

Thant's what I do as well. For some reason when I'm on my iPod it knows to take me to the exact post in the thread I haven't read. I have to admit it's really hard for me to keep up with where people are and what step they are in unless it states that in the profile info. I was reading through the roll call stuff and had NO Idea some people were in locations they posted!!

Yeah I figured I was behind on this nifty little feature, but thought I'd share in case anyone else is as slow as me

I've been having a terrible time keeping up lately. I used the new posts option too, but sometimes even in a day I end up missing something. I try to check in on my phone, but often miss things. I've sometimes felt really guilty about what I've missed. When the post pops back up and I realize that someone was really struggling with something and I didn't offer up support or a cyberhug, I feel terrible!

Hopefully, I'll be able to do a better job of keeping up this summer since I won't be working at the Montessori unless they need the occasional sub.

I do have to say that I really appreciate it when folks use a very descriptive subject line. It helps sifting through the things I can comment on and the subject that I can not such as gardening and cooking. haha!

I was gone for the last 9 days, and I have 8 pages of threads with new posts! I'm scanning titles, hovering over them to see the text if it's not clear from the title what they're about. Reading a few. I won't catch up on all of them. I'm ok with that.

pretty much what Kris said. I do feel badly when I realize I didn't post on a thread I should've offered support on.
