Website influence?

Well, today DW comes home and tells me a story about one of the "newbies" at Children's Mercy. He had his semi-annual review and was down in housestaff and told her that they were talking about her husband (me) during his review.

It appears that he was online with his wife back when he was trying to pick places to rank and in what order. He is from St. Louis and was trying to get all the information that he could. They came across this site, and also came across the residency reviews. He choose Children's Mercy and was matched here with a little influence from the Medical Spouse webpage! (he also had a good interview as well!)

So, long story very short....everyone should post a review of their SO residency, it may get you a new neighbor!......the Doc & family in this story, incidentally, bought a house two blocks from us!

Matt...that is really NEAT! I wish that we did have more reviews...I think we could build up a great database where people could hear what a program is really like and also find out information about schools/housing/shopping/jobs etc......

Do you think it would help if it was something that members only could view? Then maybe people would be less reluctant to add something. Of course, all reviews can be done anonymously.....but it might be something to consider....hmmmm

I don't know that it should be something that only members can view... but it could be something that members should do to say gain access to certain areas? Just a thought, I know that may upset some, but there are what, less than 20 reviews?! I know that there are now more than 300 "members".... I don't think that all our spouses worked in the same hospitals??!!! (can you tell I am trying to get more reviews on here??)

Another little side note, I noticed that there were 20 members on the site at once today! That is cool!

I love this place! It has brought a piece of mind and many good conversations with DW and other med spouses.
