Does anyone out there have Tivo (or a similar product, e.g., ReplayTV)? We have a lot of friends who have it and swear by it, and I'm wondering what your experiences (if any) have been. We're thinking about getting it as a joint Christmas present to each other this year, they're running a $50 rebate through the end of the year. Any thoughts?

We have friends who love it- but they're huge sports fanatics who are always trying to watch as many games in as many sports as possible. We haven't considered it but maybe when it becomes more 'mainstream' we will.

Im not sure who provides cable service in your area, but I just saw an ad for Comcast- they are going to start offering their own type of TIVO in the next month or so. I was going to look into it. My uncle who lives nearby has TIVO and I LOVE it! If there is something i want to watch, i usually call him and he puts it in for me to see the next time i come over. They have some programs set for recording all the time- like SNL is automatically saved each week. He has a limited number of shows he can program in, and mentioned something about having different priced packages in terms of how many programs you want to have saved.
