  • Technology new Doctors Online Network

I tried to pull the package I saw that ran on KWTV to show you all but they didn't put it on there website, yet.

It's about this new website called doximity. Has anyone heard of it before?

It's like facebook but it's a secure online community just for Doctors and they use it to help patients. Here is some of the abstract from the script.

"They've created this secure platform where physicians can sign on and you can find other colleagues, you can communicate with colleagues, and you can tap into the date base of over 75,000 physicians across the country.

The application offers doctors a place to send secure emails and faxes, stay up to date on the latest medical news through articles and journals as well as use iRounds, a place to securely post questions and advice on challenging cases. Sometimes in real time.

"It can be instant, as soon as I post, It's up there and whenever another physician is on there and they see and say oh, I've seen that, It's just a matter of minutes."

Helping to bridge the communication gap between doctors."
    The link to doximity.

I haven't heard of that one but they do sound similar. Potential rival companies for the market?

Here's the part I'd be worried about:
Earn honoraria. Our clients paid over $100 million to MDs last year for research, 2nd opinions, and medicolegal consulting. Our average rate is $500/hr.

I do physician-targeted primary market research all the time in my job and the MDs really don't like to speak with you unless they've signed up to do so.
Married to a Urology Attending! (that is an understated exclamation point)
Mama to C (Jan 2012), D (Nov 2013), and R (April 2016). Consulting and homeschooling are my day jobs.

DH has used it. He found his long lost tank buddy using doximity. The scary part was that the number he called was said bud's cell number!!! Dude is a surgeon and just so happen to have answered his phone to DH's surprise. DH was expecting to leave a message at his office. The other scary part is that he did not know his cell was listed on doximity much less how it ended up there.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

I just clicked through the first few screens as DH and they say he has 4 pending invites as well as knowing his med school and graduation date - he's not going to be very happy about that AT. ALL!

ETA: And I'm starting to be REALLY glad that we made sure to not list our home phone/address on anything related to his job - it seems his practice info is EVERYWHERE!
