  • murder mystery parties?

We are thinking of hosting a murder mystery party sometime this fall. Have any of you guys ever had one? There are so many options for different ways to go about doing it, I've found a few starting spots, but I wanted to know if you all had any suggestions.
I found a totally tubular 80's murder mystery party. I'll pretty much to anything to rock some 80s fashion, so I'm leaning toward that one.

I've done a couple and they were always really a lot of fun. At the ones I went to it was like a pot luck and everyone brought something to snack on. Then the group sat in a big circle and played out their parts reading the scripts. People dressed up too. Sometimes people would get up and go get more snacks or we'd take an intermission and visit. You'll have a blast! The more people the better. Our groups were always around 20-30 people and it was so entertaining because the majority hadn't ever done it before or played that particular murder mystery out.

I love them! I've only been to professional ones, too, but hosting it sounds great! Take pictures and let us know how it goes!

I hosted a few in vet school. The character list was short - designed for 3-4 couples. But it was fun. Don't invite too many more people than characters. It's not as much fun if you aren't a player.

I found a website online that has different games you can download based on how many people are coming. Michele, the ones you hosted, were they scripted? Or just the ones where you give everyone a character and their background and sort of wing it?

I've done a few. I found the kits that included the menu and invites at a Hallmark store once. I've cooked the whole meal for some and assigned dishes at times. They are so much fun...everyone always has a good time. Instead of using the invites in my kit, I scanned them so that I could use the kit over and over.
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!
