  • Watching medical shows with the medspouse

I haven't watched Grey's Anatomy since my daughters were born 6 years ago. After a rough encounter with a ladder this summer, I decided to use my recuperation time to catch up.

DH has chosen to sit and watch with me on occasion. We can't make it through 10 minutes without having to pause so he can tell me what they're doing wrong and why. He also pointed out that sleeping around isn't nearly as rampant as you see on TV. (good thing!)

Does your medical SO let you watch shows without interruption?

Nope. He has to correct everything too. LOL

The only one he does OK with is Scrubs because it's not meant to be serious

They all start out promising, though. That very first episode of ER...wow!

Yes! We pause all the damn time around here. It drives me crazy. He also does okay with Scrubs, and he even says it's the most accurate of them all.

DH likes Scrubs, but we gave up on Grey's and House because it wasn't really relaxing anymore.

DH loves all those shows and though I'm sure he's correcting them inside his head all the time he rarely says it out loud. Scrubs is his absolute favorite, followed by House and Greys. I watch Scrubs and House with him but I can't stand Greys -- I'm the one that can't shut up watching Greys, correcting every stupid thing they do like depriving someone of oxygen for 20 minutes yet magically they have no brain damage :-p

M*A*S*H, Scrubs, and Doc Martin are the only shows about doctors we've even bothered watching; the rest are too painful.

We only watch medical comedies for this exact reason - Grey's was the worst since one of their stars is a neurosurgeon.

What about House where the neurologist would just jump in and do some neurosurgery? DH and I always laughed at that one.

DH does the same thing! All the medical shows annoy the crap out of him. But I always make him watch Private Practice with me because they have thought-provoking psychological scenarios.

I forgot about M*A*S*H - I LOVE watching it! I honestly don't know if DH has seen an episode!

We watched House, and every episode was a chance for him to share his knowledge.

We did too! DH would say: "OK, so the visiting internist all of a sudden has hospital privileges and is doing open-heart surgery."

DH only really watches Scrubs, but the backwards x-ray in the intro ALWAYS drives him crazy. He giggled like a little kid when someone corrected it in one of the episodes.
