  • Did I really screw it up???!!!

I'm re-posting this in case it was being passed up as a gripe about apple, in the other form.

So we got my DS1 an iPod touch for Eid. I was helping him set it up & since he doesn't have e-mail, I used a couple of mine (1 for the primary& one as back up). The password was something he could easily remember & he chose his security questions. I naively entered his DOB because I figured that it might possibly have have something to do w/the degree of content it would allow him to have access to. Well no sooner did I hit "enter" and the damn thing said something about "you are too young to have an apple account." So I started over this time, I did everything the same except I used my DOB... it still said ".no, too young" Gaaah! WTF? Even DH tried to register for an apple account and it said he(born in 1967)was too young!!!?? This really pisses me off. Please tell me what I need to do. I tried in vain to find customer support online, to help, but their stupid support site kept taking me in circles!! When I call the number they have listed as "24 hours /7 days a week" support, I had to first deal w/the automated system! The system eventually said: " I will now connect you to a Support representative." I finally get put through to hear a recording saying they are closed!!! Again WTF??? Ugggh is this damn iPod touch just assuming some underage kid is trying to set up an account....this sucks because it's our holiday & I can't get his gift fully functioning the way I want!

Did you reset the ipod (home and power buttons) and try again with your birthday?

I wonder if iTunes is recognizing the serial number of the device and automatically flagging its user as underaged? Do you have another computer in the house with iTunes already downloaded that you can use to try registering the iPod?
