  • Nook HD, worth it?

I got a B&N coupon in the mail today for the Nook HD. Is it worth it? I bought DH a Nook 2 years ago for Father's Day and it already seems so out of date. I can get the Nook HD for $149 I think. Worth it? I'm thinking of making it a graduation gift. I have no idea what else to get him. He's really hard to shop for. If you think its even marginally cool I might go and get it.

Dude, that's awesome. I heart my Nook and it's an old school one.

I haven't tried a Nook, but I love, love, love my Kindle. I think it'd be a great gift! If you order it online, you can get a few more dollars back on Ebates.

I have a Nook, but it's my third one. In my experience, they have just...died. For no reason. So, I've had to replace it three times. The last time we went in, the Nook desk guy said that something about their Lithium batteries means that if you let them die and leave them dead for more than a couple days, there is no reviving them. Second, if you leave them plugged into their charger, they will charge fully, but then start to lose their charge, and if you don't use them/take them off the charger in time, they will--again--just die and never be able to be turned on again. So...I don't really know. TBH, I have heard people have much better things to say about Kindle's. I probably would have gotten a Kindle if we hadn't gotten an iPad for Christmas (or if I hadn't started to use Audible on my phone).

Added: if your DH is a big reader, and you decide on a Kindle, the free Audible app has a feature where they is "Whispersync" meaning if you subscribe to Audible and download audibooks, you can listen to them on your iPhone and pick up whereyou left off on your Kindle, or vice versa. I've read some reviews about this feature and Kindle users LOVE it.
