  • IT band syndrome

That is the diagnoses and it hurts like crazy all through my hip.
I can not find an OMM doc around here. My hip pain has kept me from running or working out at all this week. Anyone have ideas on how to stretch it out?

I have it in my right leg. Hip/pelvis to knee. It keeps me awake sometimes. It pains me all day. It blows. I do stretches...
I sit "Indian style" and push down on my folded knees. I put my "good" leg out straight, then cross my bad leg over it, bent-knee up and hug it towards my chest. (Confusing?) and I also do push ups off the wall. But I'm very far away from the wall with my lower body. My fav-feel good is the good leg out, and hugging bad leg to my chest. It feels good!
These are stretches from the pain management doc I see and the ortho/pt PA I see. They do help. With 800mg Advil and a tramadol
I've had this for 12 years. Some days I can hardly walk or lay on my right side.

Ouch! Would pigeon pose help? http://www.fitsugar.com/How-Do-Pigeon-Pose-121200

        Have you tried foam rolling?

Going to the PT for ASTYM will also help (it will feel terrible, but it will help).

Pigeon pose works wonders but it's one of those things that while you're doing it you have to do deep breathing exercises because it hurts like a mofo. Eventually everything releases though and then it's like "ahhhhhhhh."

I have piriformis symdrome (well, since they've excluded all of the other things that could piss off a butt muscle and radiate down my leg...) and key to keeping it happy is 1) not running ever 2) not overdoing walking 3) doing lots of lateral moving- usually yoga and stretching. I've given up walking with my neighbor and pretty much now just do yoga and leg exercises in the pool.

Sucks. Be careful though- you don't want to make it worse.

Firelog pose as well (or double pigeon) is good as well. Go slow.
