      Report to Building Inspector as well? Here, they regulate all the permits and keep tabs on local contractors. They would want to know about this. And they would know how to handle it.

        Oh - yes, we got it fixed and up to code. Cost us a pretty penny too when it could have cost the 1st contractor just a few bucks more if it had been done correctly the first time.

        Makes me think of that contractor on HGTV that comes in after crappy contractors leave people in bad shape. Not all contractors are created equal.
        Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

          how did you find out about this? normally furnace is not used in the summer and if just a gas leak, it should be small--say something in the order of pilot light.
