  • Bike tires are always flat!

We like to take family bike rides since we live in an awesome biking area with paths right by our house. But there is always a flat when we are on the trail. Last time it was my bike (changed inner tube and it seems to be good) but usually it's dhs bike. He has a cheap mountain bike. He claims he rode it for about 3 weeks before we arrived here last summer and never got a flight. But now he can get 2 miles and then.., flat! He used the slime liner, the slime patches, the slime filled inner tube... This last ride the slime was leaking out of the tube-- I think the tube exploded or something.

Is there any recommendation for getting more mileage out of a tube? We are biking on trails. I think dhs bike tires are maybe no good? He also pulls the Weehoo seat for dd4 which adds weight to his load...

Aloha from paradise! And the other side of training!

He needs to take the wheel in to see why it keeps going flat. There could be a spoke that is puncturing the tube.

The tire could in fact be no good. If it rips at the clincher bead it will roll and pinch-flat your tube in no time flat. Also, are you pumping up the pressure before you go out? A little leakage is normal in between rides, and if you're under pressure when you start out, you will pinch-flat from that (especially with the extra load).
