  • Surgeons are the most attractive doctors

My husband is happily sharing this on FB. If only the people taking these surveys knew... I like how the non medical world ranks the most attractive doctors in probably the exact opposite rank list us med spouses would.

One of my surgeon friends posted that a couple weeks ago. DH loves it because the desirable traits described all apply to EM.

OMG! We totally need to start a public anonymous website on what you need to know about dating a doctor. Everyone in medical school's prospects would totally tank!

+1! I have a friend in nursing school who commented once on FB about having a date with a med student and I was like "listen...I would just go ahead and steer clear of that. I don't think you fully know the implications. I'm married to one, and I love him dearly...but. Just, no."

ETA - I wonder how many respondents have actually *DATED* doctors, or how many think the "hell yes" response to "are doctors in general attractive" just means they are rich and brilliant and all around wonderful and captivating. I know mine isn't fully an MD yet, but dude has his faults. Sure he's tall and lean and insanely smart and level-headed and handsome IMO, but I definitely miss someone who PAYS ATTENTION TO WHAT I'M SAYING on a regular basis instead of glazing over halfway through my sentence in favor of flashcards or other thoughts of school.

R's sister posted that on my wall over the weekend. She's a pediatrician, so apparently she and R are total catches.

In other news, I totally want to make a fake profile on uniformdatingdotcom!

                        Snort.

Reminds me of the two church ladies in their 70s that asked what my husband did (since I was alone at a function). They said "oh -you are so lucky - you married a dawkter" to which I replied "yes, you do not EVEN begin to know HOW lucky I am"
Finally - we are finished with training! Hello real world!!

Love this! I like that they picked the specialty that probably spends the most time in the hospital. When I told people DH was an anesthesiologist, I got blank looks. Now when I say ICU fellow, the general response is eeewww!
I'm betting this all comes from Greys Anatomy. At least ER was a bit more realistic.

It's all about $$$$. People think doctors make lots of money and money is very attractive.

                              True, my first thought too.

Also, the thing I find so funny about how "attractive" Grey's Anatomy may or may not have made the profession/specialty (I'd be willing to bet it has a lot to do with the misconceptions)...don't people realize that 90% of GA is all the docs banging each other or other hospital staff - whether or not they are in a relationship? Unless you're a nurse or tech or something else filling out that poll, GA basically teaches you: "if your SO is a doctor in a hospital, s/he WILL cheat on you with a coworker and spend many many hours having sex in an on-call room"
