    Nope It sounds like I can get it done with the command you mentioned above - if not, I was thinking of trying out Camstudio, which is free and seems like it would fit my needs. I didn't know if anyone else had experience with it?

      If you are on the Mac at home, Preview will allow you to take partial screen shots of your pdfs. It's native in the OS. You can select a section, a window or the whole screen. You can also do screen recordings. It's a very handy program and it will already be on your Mac if you need it.

      You can save the captures as PDF, png, jpg...

        Thanks Angie - I'm trying it out right now!

        ETA - Angie, you were spot on. Preview is exactly what I need. Perfectly snips paragraphs of the PDFs I need. Thank you for the suggestion - saves me the hassle of downloading, installing, and figuring out CamStudio.
