  • Router advice?

I tend to research stuff instead of asking, but this has me slack-jawed and drooling. Our old router (a Belkin) was giving crappy access, ie internet was spotty up in the bedroom, netflix tended to stop to load. We got a new one (a Netgear?) which was even worse, speed-wise. We put back in the old one, but it still kinda sucks. I have no idea what to look for in a new one. None. Should I look for a commercial-grade router? Does anyone know what the more reliable brands are?

    Help!

I'm in the market for a new router as well. According to cnet, and my research. It looks like I'm going to get an ASUS RT-AC68U. It's not on sale yet, it's the upgrade from the RT-AC66U.

    Spendy, though.

Thanks, I'll have DH take a look at it. The quick blurb that I just read has "world's fastest" which looks good to me. I don't mind spendy if it works really well and doesn't give me trouble.

I think we're mostly just directly using the modem/router that came with our internet service, though we might have a bridge or two set up. So the short answer is I have absolutely no idea what to recommend.

I did find this article from 4-5 months ago: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2398080,00.asp

And this one, but they're expensive: http://reviews.cnet.com/best-wireless-routers/

These ones might be worth looking at: http://reviews.cnet.com/2733-3243_7-568-7.html

        Or these: http://wireless-router-review.toptenreviews.com/

Thanks, Sandy. Clearly my google skills suck.
