  • Vacation rental games

I need the iMSN collective here. If you were going to rent a beach house, what board games would you like to see there? Here are the ones we currently have:

    Monopoly
    Trivial Pursuit Genus V
    Apples to Apples
    Fact or Crap
    Cranium
    Scattergories
    Farkel
    Chess
    Checkers
    Life
    Risk
    Scrabble
And a few others I am forgetting

I need some updated ideas! Thanks in advance.

What about a bunch of dice (Yahtzee, Bunco)?
LRC (dice game) is awesome fun, too!

Settlers of Catan is a big favorite in my family! We also like putting together jigsaw puzzles on vacation.

I know I'll think of more later, but I wanted to throw "five crowns" out there. http://www.amazon.com/SET-Enterprise.../dp/B00000IV35

Apples to Apples and Cards Against Humanity rank high on our list. Bananagrams, too.

It's a fun game, but I'm not sure id leave cards against humanity in the rental (of course just my opinion). It could be considered a bit mature (or maybe immature) by someone who wasn't expecting it.

Second LCR. It's the only game our family of game addicts can convince the non gamers to join. Very non threatening. And Settlers is the new Monopoly I think. Very popular with the teens and college kids. Mine have grown up playing it.

                            OK, my list:

Five Crowns (link above - rummy game with five suits that go from 3-K)
Set (from the same people- pattern matching) http://www.amazon.com/Set-Family-Gam.../dp/B00000IV34
Rummikub (can you tell I like rummy-like games?) http://www.amazon.com/Pressman-Toy-0...dp/B00000IZJB/

There are lots of other great games, but most of them either have lots of fiddly bits, or take a while to learn how to play, or take a long time to play a single game. For a vacation cabin, lots of cards (so you can play games like hand and foot and contract rummy), dice, dominoes (at least 12-spot), and a cribbage board (and a book of card games, one of dice games, and one of domino games, so people have the rules there at hand) are all you really NEED.

My daughter suggested Munchkin because it's unique, fun and easy to learn. It's a D&D-ish spoof card game.

Ticket To Ride is also family friendly and easy to learn.
