This is the year for DD to get it. Can someone talk me through what you do with your kids or what you did as a child? TIA

    It's also N's bday

On Dec. 5th we'd put out our shoes in a row. Then my dad would yell about how we all left our shoes out and put them away. Then we would remind him and put them back out. Without fail, every year!

In the morning there would be a small toy or religious item and candy. This year N is getting some chocolate and a lip smackers (so she'll stop stealing mine!)

Yep, we do shoes left out on Dec 5, watch a movie about Saint Nicholas, and then the children find chocolate gold coins (to symbolize the gold coins Nicholas left) and typically a new pair of jammies . Dd19 even slept over last year because she didn't want to miss the fun

We have a book about St. Nick that we read, do candy in shoes, and then at least talk about what we're doing for those who are less fortunate (sometimes we shop for an angel item or bring donations somewhere, food to the food pantry, etc, just depending how busy the particular day gets). St. Nick took care of the poor, so it's a great reminder for kids of that.
