  • gift for host

Hubby and I are going to a training weekend so we can lead the mission team. ( Though we already lead the last one.) We are being housed at someone's house. I feel like it would be nice to bring a gift, but I don't know these people and have never met them. I'm not sure what to bring on the airplane. FYI it is a Christian organization so alcohol is out.

Kitchen items are always nice. You could go to bed bath and beyond and put together a few items.

I don't know what things one needs for a mission, but if you can think of something useful to them related to that...

you can also wait until after and send them a nice something with a thank you card after the weekend is over and you know them a bit.

I should also mention that this couple is another doctor and his wife. They are leaders in this organization that sponsors mission trips all over the world if this helps.

Any food (cookies, popcorn, sweets) unique to your hometown you could bring?

I'd go with a food item too.

LOL, obviously not a Catholic organization

Personally, I like nice dishtowels or pretty soaps for hostess gifts.

A nice set of olive oil and balsamic vinegar would be nice. I also agree on the homemade foods - always appreciated!

I love this idea! I'm definitely tucking that away for later.

Find an organization (like Aveda) that support causes this couple can get on board with. Clean water in Africa etc. and buy something for them like a candle that gives money to that organization.

Every year my parents buy a goat on my behalf for a family in a little village in South America somewhere (Guatemala?)? Sports Illustrated ran a "nothing but nets" campaign to fight diseases spread by mosquitoes in families with children.

They will appreciate the tangible item but more than that they will love the thought that went into their passion to give back.
