DD, I don't think you're missing much because ever since they started making them in China, they feel different, Converse feel different now too

Mine are still from HS, so they're 20+ years old. My daughters have been trying to steal them.

Nice! I'm hanging on to mine also, from 1992. I'll wear them until they fall apart. I'm also saving my last made in America Cons for special occasions. Huh, maybe this post should be in the confession thread because it's a little freaky.

Asics gives podiatry students discounts on their shoes, which is brilliant on their part. They're fantastic and I can't see us ever switching to a different brand.

                Also:

                Chipotle
                Costco
Bounty paper towels (which are seriously the best; one of the few household things I actually buy name brand for)

Have you tried the Kirkland paper towels? I was 100% Bounty, but I've switched

I must be a horrible consumer; I don't think there is any one brand I'm loyal to for anything.

                        Poky, what's graze.com?

That IS pretty smart. I used to love my Asics until I realized that all the padding that I thought I needed to handle my high arches and neuromæ was making me unstable. I've rolled my ankles SOOO many times in their shoes. Do you know if they make any minimalist-type products? They make really durable stuff and I'd love to return to Asics, especially now that I know they give med students a break.

type it into your address bar and find out!

It's a snack delivery service with a great variety of healthyish snacky stuff. You tell them which ones you never want, and which ones you love, and they send you a random assortment of 4 (there are 80 or 90 to start with) each week or two weeks or four weeks. Keeps me from eating the crap snacks in the office kitchen.

We get a catalogue that describes which types of shoes are best for different types of feet. They may have that same info on their website, but I'm not sure. Regardless they have a TON of different kinds. I wear mine with orthotics that replace the insole that came with the shoe because I used to have a lot of ankle pain at work. I think the brand I have is PowerStep (which I found on Amazon). I'm quickly becoming brand loyal to them as well!

Did you try their neutral cushion shoes, like the Nimbus? I think they also have a lightweight neutral shoe, the Gel-Lyte. I know it's totally counter-intuitive that people with high arches would need a shoe with less arch support, but so true for the reason you mention. DH used to work at a running shoe store and had to explain that one to customers about a million times too many... "No, you don't need something with 'arch support'..." I used to be super-loyal to Asics too, but then they narrowed the toebox of the Nimbus. I went and picked up a new pair thinking I could just get the same model and size as my last pair, and the new pair pressed on some nerve and made my toes go numb. Best way to kill brand loyalty--change something!
