  • Caveman Method for Skin

So I've been reading up on alternative methods for hair and skin health and came across the Caveman Method. Basically, you never wash your face again. Thoughts? I don't think I'm brave enough to do that and frankly, I really like playing with makeup. Although it's supposed to be good for oily skin, I don't think I'd last more than half a day because I feel gross not washing my face right after waking up.

Yeah, I'm pretty crunchy, but there is no way I could do that.

All the blogs I read mentioned dead skin mask. Um, yeah Dove bar sounds good (we're talking soap and chocolate right?)

So how are you supposed to keep your face from looking like an oily mess? Or wear makeup?

I wonder if it would completely balance out without makeup or other products….?

Not that i'm willing to find out.

I've discovered that my skin stays clearest when I cleanse with Cetaphil in the morning and then a make-up remover wipe followed with just warm water on a microfiber cloth to remove all the makeup residue before bed. If I don't wear makeup, I skip the remover wipe and just wipe down my face with the warm, damp microfiber cloth before I moisturize and head to bed.

                Caveman Method for Skin

Well, after reading the responses so far, I'm almost afraid to admit this... But, I basically do this method for my face - although I had no idea it had a name. I thought I was just being lazy. But really, I have super dry skin, and I simply can't use any soap on it without irritating it. So, I rinse my face with water in the shower (daily or every other day) and lightly exfoliate with a washcloth once a week. I don't wear makeup very often though, so that helps. Anyway, it works for me!

I wash only in the mornings with my tea tree oil soap. But don't do anything at night.

If I don't wear makeup, I don't wash my face. It gets super dry otherwise. I'll wash it at night to take makeup off, but I don't wash it again in the morning.

I've also done this, though I wasn't aware it had a name either. I've only done it when I've had a streak of no make-up days. I just rinse in the shower and pat it dry. I didn't notice any marked improvements (or extra yuckiness, for that matter.) From a laziness point of view, it's great!

I've actually never used soap on my face, just warm water in the morning and a washcloth and I shower at night, but if I stopped those it would get ugly

I actually find my makeup looks a lot better if I don't even wet my face in the morning.

I've never used soap on my face either due to sensitive skin.

I'm over the whole "caveman" fad though. Really, we are now taking beauty advice from people who we've never seen?!?

I agree, CP I use a peroxide wash in the AM when I shower, and then nothing else. I maybe wear makeup 4x a year, and it always jacks my face up afterwards.
