  • What will 2014 bring you?

What's coming up for you? Exciting plans? Trips? Family expansion? (weddings and babies!) Not really resolutions, I just want to hear about where people are going!

Baby J (due at the end of Feb) and the Match are tied at #1 for biggest things going on in our lives. Having a baby in 4th year has been our plan for YEARS and I feel like we've been obsessing about the Match for just as long. It's crazy that they will be just a few weeks apart. And will change our lives so much! On one hand, we could get to stay, meaning I keep my job, we get a huge income bump, and I can start settling into this house for the long haul. Or I could end up being a SAHM or telecommuting in a new locale as early as June!! (not necessarily a bad thing, just hard to wrap my head around how different the options are)

Usually I'm a little depressed when Christmas is over, but this year I cant wait to get the decorations down and GET GOING. I'm about to dive into some house projects (stuff that is either needed for resale or can be taken with us) and am nesting like crazy. I went to Ikea last week, bought 2 shelves and 16 baskets, put them together 95% by myself, and am getting rid of the clutter! I'm about to go through the entire guest bedroom and get it ready as much as possible for Baby J. I also am about to go through ALL of N's winter clothes from the past 2 years to sell. Thank goodness for interviews that will get DH and N out of the house for a few days while I go nuts!

I'm not looking forward to the heat of summer, but I do love spring. It's going to be such an exciting time for us this year and of course I love severe storm season

I haven't really thought about life post-July. Which is weird for me--I always have a long term plan, but there are just too many variables to even try and think about it now!

    -Trip to NOLA sans kids
    -Fellowship match in April
    -Friend's wedding in August
-Possible family trips to Pittsburgh &/or Philly
-Best residency friend having baby #2 and moving (not looking forward to it, but it will be a major event)
-A will be starting preschool in Nov (after she turns 3).

Next year (2015) will be crazy!

Nothing too solidified yet. I don't think dh and I have planned much if anything yet.

We will find out acceptances/rejections for private schools and decide where O will attend kinder next year.

I plan to visit two dear friends in upstate NY either in spring or summer.

Dh has his oral boards at the end of January and we are all going together and staying a few days for fun in San Diego.

I will have some major dental work done- so not looking forward to it but am ready for the pain the end.

I will be attending the imsn conference in July

The year isn't clear for us either, but 2014 may bring us:

        - A trip to Egypt for hubby's brother's wedding.

        - The match in March.

        - If we match then a relocation to the State we match in. If we don't match then a possible relocation overseas for dh's work.

        - If we match then starting a family will finally become closer to happening. If we don't match then having kids is delayed indefinitely.

Baby Girl K due in 6 weeks. Yikes!

Maybe some travel in the spring. Thinking of visiting my family for Passover this year since the boys have a week off of school. Our whole crew has also been invited to a Bat Mitzvah in Cleveland this May so heads up to my Cleveland peeps.

K1 starts pre-K and K2 starts preschool in the Fall. That will reduce my "dates" with K1 to zero (though, that may happen this semester if he keeps insisting he wants to go to the Monday program) and with K2 to one/week. K3 will have me to herself 4 mornings/week. I'm really looking forward to having some time with my baby girl.

Hopefully, purchasing a house in the Fall.

I'll be very surprised if the year doesn't end with a new nephew or niece.

Spring will bring my first child and then six weeks later a move from one side of the country clear across to the other side for J's Fellowship.

J will have to start job hunting to find his first big boy job. Scary.

While that's it, those two things are pretty effing huge and scary.

Our 2nd full year out of training, adding 2 new partners to DH's group, hopefully bringing his schedule under control but otherwise more of the same. DH will apply for boards but I suspect won't take them until 2015.

Turks & Caicos in February, hopefully another trip to either Disneyland or something like that and a trip to Branson in August for my parents' 60th birthdays. We'll probably join a country club and the kids will have lots of sports stuff.

A will finish K and start 1st grade at the same school she is at. R will start 4's preschool or Pre-K we haven't decided which.

Oh! And I almost forgot. . . I turn 40 this year! K1 told me this morning, "That's a VERY big number, Mom!"

This year is huge for our family!

March will bring the all important Match.

April is my dad's 50th birthday.

May brings both D rBtobe's graduation AND our long awaited wedding!

June brings my mom's 50th birthday and the potential move for DrBtobe and I.

July brings the start of residency (we hope!)

Add in there trying for a baby, possibly getting a new job, and a few weddings to attend for our friends and we've found ourselves in the middle of a huge year!

                      Bring on 2014!!

Hubby will finish general surgery and move onto urology, where I imagine he'll be much happier (he was happy his first 4 months on urology this year, even though he was working harder).

I've got at least one trip planned - my mom and I are going with E to visit my grandma over Mardi Gras.

My twin sister and I turn 30, and we're debating a birthday cruise, though I'm not 100% sure how great of an idea that will be with E, since I've gotten sick on every cruise I've taken.

Hopefully hubby and I can do something fun together during his 2nd week of vacation, sometime during the spring.

Dd17 graduates and goes to college.

                            We are Moving. Sigh.

Finishing fellowship should be big. But I just feel like it's not. This fellowship year has been so strange.

Oh and we are getting another puppy. Because I'm crazy like that.

Aloha from paradise! And the other side of training!

We have next to nothing big on our plate for the year and that makes me quite happy!! 2014 could be the first year that does not involve a move for us since....uhh... High school? Super excited for that!
