I'm trying to keep positive so I'm not going to think about what is likely to happen in 2014. One day at a time and enjoy each moment!

Ugh. It makes me queasy to count up the years ahead. His current, ideal plan includes a 3 year IM residency, followed by a 3 year cardio fellowship, FOLLOWED THEN by a 2 year EP fellowship. I just....can't even. Yuck.

One of my friends is an anesthesiologist and her dh does EP. The initial plan was just IM. The add - ons didn't go over well lol. I think now he's working on a master's in health IT or something. She's quite over it!!!

Last week DH said something like "In my field, the further specialized you are the more marketable you are for a good job." after reading some threads on here my only response was an eyebrow raise.

I keep putting off replying to this thread...

I just see more of the same: stress from practice and stress over the lawsuit. I didn't even want to celebrate New Years... and I didn't , I ended up having emergency surgery on New Year's day... I'm just not excited about this year at all. I need a major attitude adjustment.

2014 will likely mean a new job for DH.

It will mean I have another driver in the house.

It will mean I am done with my prerequisites and will apply to PA school, maybe.

                  What will 2014 bring you?

Late because I found this thread depressing at first. But after some thinking I realized a few things.... This year will bring:

                  - DH's "residents" will apply and interview for match (although they won't match till 2015). Cool to think about because they will be his residents (pgy2s) when he is chief!
                  - research year
                  - probably the final year of junior call
                  - applying to fellowship
                  - hopefully a change in positions in my job

Are you still near me? If so we need to meet up before you move!

Hopefully all good things! We are renting currently because we didn't know the area before we moved, but hopefully we are going to buy this summer/fall! My son will turn 10, and hopefully by the end of the year we will be expecting

Sounds like a great plan! Will your son change schools? Did you find the area you want to buy yet? We are also renting and I just love this area. It's funny, sometime you just get lucky.

I like the area we are in, but one of the main reasons we are moving is to get out of this school zone. It's wretched and we've had big problems with them. Even though the state does open enrollment, there aren't any spots in the good schools and my husband and I work full time and providing our own transportation would be a challenge. But there are some nice areas we should be able to afford that are in good school districts, so I'm hopeful that we will land somewhere we like!
