Weather... I used to think I liked 4 seasons but now I know I like 4 seasons with very mild temps (like nothing below 50 ever), minimal rain (or short rain bursts- not days of rain on end), and no ice. Snow is ok except for the shoveling, but I can't stand the ice. Going outside in the winter in ice is just miserable.

My ideal weather is just about what I have now, and snow is only 2.5 hours away but I have not yet felt compelled to go get cold and wet like that.

I do to call my ILs anything. Dh calls them by first name.

Questions of the Week: January 6th

      1. I love having all four seasons ( yes, even hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters), although spring and fall are my favorites. It drives me crazy when winter stops being snowy and just drags on as sort of dark, cold and gray. So I think I'd like a place with long, mild spring/autumn and distinct but not too long summer/winter in between.

I've generally enjoyed the weather wherever I've lived, though. I'm adaptable, I suppose.

      2. We've been married 2 years and I still don't really call my in laws anything. :P My parents and I are both comfortable with first names, but my tradition Southern in laws and Southern gentleman hubby aren't. We had a long discussion on it before we got married and decided on 'Mom and Dad' for both sets. Mostly I still go with "Heeeeeeyyy... you!" Haha.

We're about to stay with his parents for one of his rotations, though, so maybe I'll work up the guts to practice.

        1. What would your perfect weather calendar look like? Would you like four seasons? Snow? Rain? What temperatures? How much variation?

I need seasons. I think the weather in in the Tulsa, OK/Tennessee latitude would work well for me. Texas isn't that bad except for the summer. I'd prefer a little more winter and a real autumn.

        2. What do you call your in-laws? What does your spouse call your parents?

It's weird. We don't directly address them because we don't know what to call them.

I like snow ... at least a little of it ... and I'm not afraid of the cold necessarily, but I would like to live in an area with 4 true seasons. Where I live now, there are truly only two. Spring/Summer combined and Winter hell. It gets so cold here that you can't even go out into the snow. Everything just ends up crunchy. I would live somewhere where temps don't go below 0F or go above 100F ... and where the seasons are truly laid out nicely. Frankly, I fantasize about it constantly.

I call my mil by her first name.

I'd like it to be between 50 and 85 or so year round, for the most part. I love fall, so if we could actually have one of those it would be nice. Maybe one weekend of cold and snow would be OK too.

              2. What do you call your in-laws? What does your spouse call your parents?

I don't really address them because I find it awkward, but I mostly call them by their first name's or hubby's mom/dad/stepmom. He calls mine by their first names, because I think we had a conversation about it and they told him to use their first names. Although now that we have E, we can call them by their grandparent names - Mimi and Pops for my parents, Grammie, BobBob, and Grandma Firstname (stepmom) for his.

                1. I love all the seasons but this winter weather cold-snap is a little much! Snow is great but we could skip the wind, the sleet and the driving and freezing rain.
                2. I now call them by their first names. Was calling them Mr. & Mrs. for years but now that DH and I are married and I'm getting older, I felt silly continuing with such a formal address so I switched... and they seem ok with it.
