What is your favorite fruit? I've not been a huge fan of fruit since I was little, so I'm working really hard to get back into fruits and veggies. I have major, major texture issues with food. Currently, my faves are pink lady apples and blueberries. I'm weird about food in that I like the flavors of lots of things, but actually chewing them sometimes repulses me (see: strawberries, other types of berries, pomegranate). If it can be blended up with yogurt into a smoothie, I'm all over it. We keep many bags of frozen berries in our freezer for my smoothies.
What is your favorite vegetable? Another category I'm trying to work on. Again - love tastes, despise texture. I absolutely love sautéing peppers and onions with things because I love the flavors, but I literally gag if I bit down on one of them. Currently, my fave veggies are spinach and kale - I'm good about my leafy greens! I'm trying to do things like mash up and spread avocado onto things because that texture isn't so bad. And potatoes, I may or may not have just made myself some hashbrowns for dinner.
What is one thing you eat or do with food that other people find to be weird or disgusting? Probably more of what I *don't* eat that people find weird. I consider myself a food purist - i.e.: when I order a cheeseburger, I literally want the cheese and the burger. I constantly order things without spreads, aiolis, peppers, onions, avocado, crumbly/stinky cheese, nuts etc. It absolutely kills my husband ("you left off all the good stuff! You're ruining it!" "Sure, I'll try a bite. *takes a bite*. Yeah, it's good but I'm sure it would have been way better if you'd gotten it as described on the menu"). This is the major reason we rarely share entrees. There are also a couple things I secretly like that are embarrassing (and some would find disgusting): McNuggets (which I never, ever eat because I know they are like, the most awful thing ever but they are so crunchy and good to me), those snack cakes that are chocolate cake rolls with creme in them (can't remember the name).
What is your favorite drink? Tequila. I genuinely love tequila. Red wine (no pinot noir). Water.
What would your last meal be? It would really depend - anything from my mom's spaghetti and meatballs, my husbands smoked chicken wings, a really great, medium-rare burger and perfect fries, really good olive oil and warm bread, a filet, etc. It would just depend on my mood. Whatever it was, the meal would have to end with my mom's chocolate chess pie. There is simply nothing like it.
Are you a picky eater? Yes. I am working really hard on changing that. II always look to my uncle for inspiration - he is a gourmet chef by hobby and makes amazing food. He's such a great cook that his kid's school actually auctions off a dinner party at their house during fundraisers. Until he was in college he would pretty much only eat cheerios and little debbie cakes. Now look at him!
Do you like it spicy? In 8 years, DH has really expanded my spice tolerance. He LOVES spicy - seriously we go through sriracha like crazy - and I used to dislike anything but mild. Now I'm up to medium and sometimes hot! I enjoy spicy foods most of the time.
What is the most exotic/strange food you've tried? How was it? Nothing too crazy - probably beef carpaccio in Paris. It was an accident, DH ordered it and knew what it was, I wasn't paying attention and tasted it when he offered some. I wasn't prepared for it to be raw and taste like lime. It wasn't bad!
