    1. How many times have you moved in your lifetime? How many of those moves were due to medicine?

    2. If you know, where is your dream location to live? Do you live there now? If not, do you envision living there in the future?

    3. Would you realistically consider living in a foreign country? Why or why not?

    4. In your current country, what do you think are the top 3 cities you would want to live in? What are the bottom 3? Why?

    1. How many times have you moved in your lifetime? How many of those moves were due to medicine?
Counting moving to college and all of my college moves as 1, moving here was my 10th move. Our 3rd together so 3rd based on medicine though my 3 moves to and in CA was technically related to medicine too b/c if he hadn't gone to medschool there I wouldn't have moved there.

    2. If you know, where is your dream location to live? Do you live there now? If not, do you envision living there in the future?
I like living here (KC) , the city has a lot to offer, we're close to family, the schools are good, the community good. However I really liked living in Denver straight out of college. I'm not sure what it would be like to live there as a family but I'd love to find out.

    3. Would you realistically consider living in a foreign country? Why or why not?
An english speaking country, yes. I've tried to learn foreign languages, I'm just not good at it. I would consider living somewhere like Ireland or England for a set amount of time, probably not an unknown amount of time.

    4. In your current country, what do you think are the top 3 cities you would want to live in? What are the bottom 3? Why?
KC, Denver, Rochester MN - we like the midwest! (Seattle might be a close 4th though)
Any big city in the south, upstate NY (like Syracuse), and probably Arizona - I just don't think I could deal with the heat!

      1) 10 times, 0 due to medicine

      2) My dream location would be anywhere with my SO

      3) Yes but somewhere that isn't dangerous (ie-get blown up riding the bus)

      4) Besides San Fran, Seattle, I'm not really picky where but I'm with SS-I'd like to avoid humidity and heat. If it's for a short time, I can deal but long term, kinda icky.

        1. 12 times, 3 due to medicine. We have lived in our current home for almost five years, and that is the longest we have stayed in one place in 23.5 years of marriage.

        2. I would like to live in FL during the winter, and I think we will be snowbirds once DH retires. Otherwise, I am happy with where we live. I would like to live in a more remote location (not in a neighborhood, with more land), but DH needs to be able to get to work in 15 minutes, and I don't want to have to be responsible for plowing a long driveway, etc. when it snows!

        3. I don't think I would live in a foreign country at this point in my life....too far from family.

        4. Top 3 cities: San Antonio, Nashville, and Louisville. We lived in San Antonio during residency and loved it, and DH's brother lives there now. My sister lives in Nashville. Louisville would be be milder weather than we currently have, but not too far from family. Bottom three cities ...not sure, but probably anywhere north of where I currently live would be a contender! I'm also not a huge fan of CO or AZ. Guess I am just a midwestern gal with southern tendencies.

          1) 15 if you count every single one. 7 if you don't count the time when I was 3, and if you count all college dorm/apartment moves as 1. Only one so far has been because of medicine (the most recent was just within town because we liked the place better).

          2) I don't really know; probably the PNW, but there are so many places I haven't been, there might be somewhere better (though I doubt it!).

          3) Absolutely. We're still talking about *maybe* doing a year of locums in New Zealand after training, though our parents' health issues may prevent going that far away.

          4) No idea. I know and love Seattle and Portland, but the traffic is a downside (I LOVE the lack of traffic here). Haven't really lived anywhere else. I know I don't want to live in the South, though I'm sure I'd survive it if I had to.

            1. How many times have you moved in your lifetime? How many of those moves were due to medicine?
9 big moves in my lifetime, only 1 of which has kind of been due to medicine

            2. If you know, where is your dream location to live? Do you live there now? If not, do you envision living there in the future?
As of now, my dream location would be in Colorado. We've have never lived there but visited Denver several times while living in KS and loved the area. Everywhere we've visited in CO has been awesome and we are hoping to end up there someday in the future.

            3. Would you realistically consider living in a foreign country? Why or why not?
I would, yea. DH really wants to live in Germany for a year or so. I don't think my job would work overseas so an extended period of time my not be feasible for us but I'd love to live in another country.

            4. In your current country, what do you think are the top 3 cities you would want to live in? What are the bottom 3? Why?
Cities, not sure. But we'd like to live in CO, CA, and/or WA. I am not a fan of the midwest or the south and wouldn't want to live in either region again. And I definitely don't want to live in the cities that either of our parents live in! No way Jose!

              1) 5 if you don't count in-town moves. 2 due to medicine so far.
              2) I don't know a specific dream location, but I know we would be very happy in a west-coast medium-sized city.
              3) Absolutely. I'd be happy to live in pretty much any of the English-speaking countries or northern/western European countries... I'm Canadian so that seems most realistic, but I would love to live in the UK or France. DH dreams of Scandinavia and I could see liking that too. I don't speak any other languages fluently but I pick up the basics quickly when I travel.
              4) Top 3: Portland, Seattle, Minneapolis. What can I say, we're liberal far-north medium-city people.
Bottom 3: I'm going to ruffle some feathers, but I'll say Dallas, Houston, and Oklahoma City. I don't like heat, sprawl, religion, or guns. Give me the frosty liberal north.

                1. How many times have you moved in your lifetime? How many of those moves were due to medicine?

3 times, 2 due to medicine.

                2. If you know, where is your dream location to live? Do you live there now? If not, do you envision living there in the future?

I'm not sure, but we're really loving where we are right now.

                3. Would you realistically consider living in a foreign country? Why or why not?

For 6 months or a year, yes. For the long term, no.

                4. In your current country, what do you think are the top 3 cities you would want to live in? What are the bottom 3? Why?

I'm not sure about cities, but my top 2 geographical regions would be the PNW and NorCal. One has the climate and the beauty, the other is close to family. Bottom three would be anywhere along the East Coast. It's just too far away from family to consider living there long term.

                  1. How many times have you moved in your lifetime? How many of those moves were due to medicine?

11 total, 3 of those due to medicine/medical training

                  2. If you know, where is your dream location to live? Do you live there now? If not, do you envision living there in the future?

Austin, Texas. We live in Atlanta now. I can envision living in Austin, if the UT Medical Branch currently located in Galveston relocates to Austin, as it is in the process of doing, and they create a strong NSG academic practice. But right now, that's only a dream.

                  3. Would you realistically consider living in a foreign country? Why or why not?

                  Sure. Why not? Loved Ireland.

                  4. In your current country, what do you think are the top 3 cities you would want to live in? What are the bottom 3? Why?

Top for us: Austin, Texas (favorite town); San Antonio (our second favorite town); and St Louis (we really liked it and great to raise kids).

Bottom for us: Detroit (self-explanatory); Pittsburgh (grew up there--bad memories and bad vibes); and anywhere within 100 miles of inlaws (I need space from them).

                    4. Where I live now (family); Fort Meyers Fl (weather and family); Austin Tx (weather)
Jersey/New York (fast pace, less friendly); Minnesota or the Dakotas (weather)

I don't know if I really have a dream location, but I love the ocean, so somewhere seaside would be pretty sweet. No, we don't live there now, but the mountains are a fairly good 2nd. I don't plan on moving anytime soon. I fucking hate moving.

PDX, SEA, and I don't know where else. My bottom 3 are probably Phoenix, Shittsburgh, and anywhere in Mississippi.

Also, I'm rooting for your team this year... doesn't that give me just a few points in your book?

                              1. 5 general locations, but 9 if you count moves within those cities. Only one due to medicine but not really because I probably would have ended up there anyway.

                              2. Dream location is probably still DFW due to family. There are things I don't like about the city (heat, topography) but my parents are settling down here for good and it seems like the majority of my siblings may end up here as well. Im a fan of the endless options the metroplex provides and the cost of living. I also ADORE the suburb we moved to. It's the closest you can get to a small town feel here and I could see us here for the foreseeable future.

                              3. Sure, but not longer than a year. Europe or Canada only

                              4. Denver (mountains! seasons!) Raleigh (mountains! Seasons!) the third would maybe be Nashville but I'm not sure. I like mid size cities with definite seasons and mountains nearby.

                              Bottom:

Anywhere in MS. Lived in Jackson 3 years. Never again

                              Arizona. Too hot. No seasons.

NYC or similar NE city that would be super cold and difficult for a large family. Wouldn't mind visiting though
