Got the answer to the TV channels. Universal Sports carries Olympic sports almost 24/7 but they only show world championships and various qualifying rounds, not the actual Olympic Games. That coverage is only shown on the five channels listed previously.

I didn't like the sweaters either. They were more 1988 than 1980 though, the peak of ugly sweaters was much later in the decade.

I love the Olympics, summer or winter. My favorite winter events are the snowboarding, skiing, speed skating, curling, and hockey.

We live in an area where some US winter Olympic athletes train. It's kind of fun to cheer on people who've trained around here. I'll have to double check the biathlon competitors to see if any are familiar.

I typically like Ralph Lauren, but those Team USA sweaters are a hot shit mess.

I kind of like the ugly sweaters because they're giving off a unique Cliff Huxtable goes to Sochi vibe

Please tell me that I'm not the only one who thinks the soprano singing the Olympic Hymn looks like someone dressed her in a Disney Princess knock-off gown? Sochi Cinderella?

Haha, you're not alone, DD! BobK, yeah I wish NBC coverage didn't suck so much. I get that it's US centered but there are a lot of people who'd want to watch regardless or have family and friends from other countries they'd like to cheer on. I know it's impossible but I kind of wish there was an all Olympic channel just during the Games like those Christmas tree stores that are only around in November/December.

The problem is that NBC doesn't even do that good a job of covering the USA! I agree than an all Olympic channel would be awesome!!!!

I wouldn't say that NBC's coverage is bad per se. There's so much going on and so little time to cover it that people will be disappointed no matter what. As for having dedicated channels, NBC did try a pay-per-view concept in 1992 called the Triplecast:

                      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympics_Triplecast

It was a major failure. I remember at the time Jay Leno joked that if NBC could get just one more subscriber it could be renamed the Quadruplecast! Maybe that would work at a lower price point, say $50. I'd probably pay that for the summer games but not for winter.

I didn't hate the sweaters, didn't love them, but the athletes looked great in them, a bit ugly or no.

Shaun White cut his hair! He no longer looks like a stereotypical snowboarder. I am having a hard time getting used to his new look. I hope his crazy snowboarding skills didn't go away with that hair. Just kidding. Sort of.

I'm mixed on the sweaters. I like Ralph Lauren but they do look a bit ugly sweater which are popular for Christmas parties, but they're not that bad.

I wish I could watch the openning ceremonies. That's always my favorite part. In Winter sports I like ice skating and skiing. In the Summer games pretty much all of it but swimming is my favorite.
