I just had an annoying experience at Zoe's music concert.
I found a seat near the back but facing the podium where the kids came up to give their narrations. Zoe was a narrator and I wanted to get a video. I had a clear shot until 1 minute before the concert started. A grandmother and adult daughter (parent of one of the kids) sat right in front of me. It should have been no big deal, but apparently, the father was working and was unable to attend the concert. I know this because the woman pulled out her phone and called him and started face timing him as the concert started. It was super distracting because he continued working on some construction project during the concert. He was pounding in nails and I could watch him work because she held her phone up directly in front of me.
When it was Zoe's turn to narrate before a song, I pulled out my camera to take a quick video of it. The grandma decided that was the moment to identify her grandchild and start waving wildly. She wouldn't put her freakin' arm down. I missed half of Zoe's narration. Confession? I finally reached out and grabbed her arm and pulled it down. I can't believe I did that. Zoe's blurb ended and I quickly tapped the woman on the shoulder and apologized profusely. She was very nice about it. Basically, I'm a tool though.
I cannot begin to say how distracting it was to watch this woman's husband work the construction project while I tried to watch the show.
