Ides, I know!! I bought it because of the good reviews here and elsewhere. Pffft. It's the powerhead and the hose buttons that are giving me trouble. Freaking thing.

My old microfiber cloths were like that too, and it bugged the crap out of me. I got some new sets at Sam's (new manufacturer) and these don't do that. Not sure what the difference is, but these are much softer than the others.

Not all microfiber is created equal. I have two that are like that (I inherited them from other people) but most of mine are from the automotive section of Target, a few are smooth ones designed for glass and furniture, and one is a MysticMaid I've had for over a decade. I think I read that the amount of polyester in the blend is one of the differences?

I have huge piles of rags but I inevitably reach for a microfiber cloth (windows, mirrors, and scrubby tasks like counters) or a prefold diaper (floors and wood furniture).

I feel the same way. I want to like them, but I can't get over that.
