Lordy.. My mom is making me have a "sip and see" (at my reluctance) when I pass through town to show of E, but a shower for her.. but I would disown her if she threw a grandma shower. Thats ridiculous. I have made it clear to my mother that the invitation says no gifts. Its ridiculous with all the things you have to bring gifts to.-L.Jane

How crazy! I mean, we invited a ton of my mom's friends to my shower, but they bought stuff for E and me, not her - although she did get a few hand-me-downs from friends to keep at her house (swing, bouncy seat, playmat). And I specifically told her that if she wanted to invite them, they didn't need to bring a gift, but they all did anyway.Allison - professor; wife to a urology attending; mom to baby girl E (11/13), baby boy C (2/16), and a spoiled cat; knitter and hoarder of yarn; photographer

I'm with everyone else - what would be the point? Like said my MIL did get some hand me down toys to have at her house for when the kids visit but she never bought anything they might need at her house, like a pack n' play or booster seats - DH and I finally broke down and bought them when we moved to OR because we couldn't schlep them back and forth. My shower for A which she threw was basically half her friends and half family but what would you get a grandmother? Odd!
L.Jane I've seen several of those "sip and see"'s especially when the kids have moved out of town - you will get a few gifts, just be prepared for that. Older ladies just can't help themselves.Wife to NSG out of training, mom to 2, 10 & 8, and a beagle with wings.
