Am lactic was at Costco, lac-hydrin at the pharmacy.
Not sure if it's cheaper.

DH says it helps, but it won't make it go away completely.

So no point in seeing a derm? I hit my deductible for this year with the baby so it's now or...til the next kid!
Probably not much point. I think it's just something most people live with. I didn't even know what it was called until a few years ago when DS started getting it on his arms, and I finally looked it up.

ETA - But since you've hit your deductible, I wonder if a derm prescribes it, would it be covered by insurance?

I've had this my entire life and never did much about it. On the regular, it doesn't bother me but maybe I'll try some of these suggestions and see what happens.

I used to get the little hard bumps on the backs of my upper arms as a kid, and in adulthood it's morphed into smooth skin, but with red dots on my forearms and legs. I've been told it's KP, and tried the lactic acid lotion stuff on my forearms at the recommendation of a derm; all it did was make my armhair very fine and light. My skin kinda sucks in general, though (got a horrible burn and itchy blisters from half a day in the sun that barely tanned DH a few weeks ago, and get dyshidrosis regularly, lots of moles, etc., etc.).

So another kid later I finally did go to the derm. Pretty much what was said here--nothing they can really do about it. They gave (as in I paid for) a 40% Urea cream so I'm going to try that and see how it goes.

On a side note...I thought it was supposed to be downright impossible to get derm appts. They were willing to get me in within the week. Shocking

My derm appts are hit or miss - sometimes I can get them within the week, sometimes I wait a month or two.

I have been using one of these for a year or so and it has made a dramatic difference with the bumps.

I tried that body brushing thing - curegirls suggestion - and all gone. I also did it during pregnancy and no stretch marks (although two nasty scars, so who really cares now!).

I ordered the Salux cloth and it should arrive today. The urea cream is making a difference, but the bumps are still there

After using the Salux cloth (and my soap, instead of store bought) I no longer have any bumps on my arms. There are still some on my thighs, but those are improved.

HouseofWool how do you care for them? Regular washing? Could I cut them into smaller washcloth size pieces?
